Country Crust Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of yeast

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 3 - 3.5 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.

  2. Stir in honey, egg and flour.

  3. Turn onto floured surface and kneed until smooth and elastic. Incorporate additional flour to make dough easy to handle.

  4. Place dough into an oiled bowl - move dough around until it’s lightly covered in oil.

  5. Cover. Let rise in a warm place until double - about 1 hour.

  6. Punch down dough and shape into a loaf.

  7. Put loaf in the pan of your choice, brush with oil and cover.

  8. Let rise in a warm place until doubled again.

  9. Optional step: score or decorate dough.

  10. Bake on lower rack at 375 degrees Fahrenheit until golden brown, about 30 - 35 minutes.
