If you’re looking for an easy, creamy, cheesy appetizer for game day, this Football Dip is one you’ll want to keep in your recipe rotation. It comes together with just a handful of simple ingredients and can be made right in one skillet.
Loaded with seasoned ground beef or pork, Rotel tomatoes and peppers, Velveeta, and sharp white cheddar, this dip is warm, creamy, and perfect for serving with tortilla chips.
It’s an especially easy recipe to make when you’re feeding a crowd because it can be prepared ahead of time and kept warm for serving.
🧀 Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or ground pork
1 (10 oz) can Rotel, undrained
1 (12 oz) block Velveeta, cubed
1 (12 oz) block sharp white cheddar, cubed
2–4 tablespoons milk, as needed
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Fresh parsley, optional, for garnish
How to Make Football Dip
1. Brown the meat
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or ground pork and cook until completely browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
2. Add the Rotel
Pour in the Rotel, including the juices, and stir to combine with the cooked meat. Allow it to warm for a minute or two.
3. Add the cheese
Turn the heat to low. Add the cubed Velveeta and cubed sharp white cheddar to the skillet.
Stir frequently as the cheese melts, making sure everything comes together into a smooth, creamy dip.
4. Adjust the consistency
If the dip is thicker than you’d like, add milk one tablespoon at a time, stirring between additions, until you reach your desired consistency.
5. Season
Add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. Stir well and taste, adding additional seasoning if desired.
6. Serve
Serve the football dip warm with tortilla chips, corn chips, crackers, or toasted bread.
A sprinkle of fresh parsley on top adds a pretty finishing touch.
🏈 Keeping It Warm for Game Day
If you’re serving this dip at a party, transfer it to a slow cooker and keep it on LOW or WARM. Give it a stir occasionally and add a small splash of milk if it begins to thicken.
